Yes, I so want to believe that our electorate votes for authenticity of person and governing competence (like Beshear's focus - action - results). When the Dems candidates come across as fake and non-competent, does this cause the electorate to choose the "authentic" fakery (like a "The Apprentice" show) of MAGA candidates who have no need for governing competence to just tear it all down?
On the other hand today's Trump Republican Party can hardly be trusted, given their echo chambering that is based on misinformation, lies and deceit. They don't win by strength of character or actually achieving what their supporters want or need. Too many tend to vote against their best interests -- somehow believing that they are being threatened by immigrants, that tariffs are the answer to U.S. economic woes, that too much "Woke" threatens their way of life ... Yadda, Yadda, Yadda. It's hard to counter nonsense.
"A state senate candidate in Maine: “What much of the party establishment doesn’t understand is that rural life is rooted in shared values of independence, common sense, tradition, frugality, community and hard work. Rural folks vote on what rings true and personal to them: Can this person be trusted? Is he authentic?”" Then why did they vote for Trump?
